A public meeting will be held at the Glasdir Business and Conference Centre at 19:00 on Thursday 12 October, to welcome the Eisteddfod to the county of Conwy in two years time.
The aim of the meeting is to invite local people to be part of the preparations for one of the world’s greatest festivals, held locally from 2-10 August 2019. There’s a warm welcome for everyone and organisers are keen to attract people from all parts of the county to join the project, so have chosen a central location for the meeting.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis, said, “Local support is extremely important to the Eisteddfod, and the work done at grassroots level is an integral part of the project. Many years have passed since we last visited Conwy, and we are very much looking forward to working here for the next two years. We know that the Eisteddfod has always enjoyed a very warm welcome in the area over the years.
“The community events and outreach work over the next two years are an integral part of the Eisteddfod’s aims and I hope we can attract a large group of enthusiastic volunteers, old friends and new faces, to be part of the team this time.
“The work will begin almost immediately as we will be working on the List of Competitions over the next few months, and we’ll also be setting up local appeal committees across the county to organise awareness-raising events and to start raising money for the Local Fund.
“Join us at Glasdir to hear more about the project; tell your friends and colleagues about the meeting and the Eisteddfod, and help us to create a strong and diverse team of all ages, working together to promote the language and to ensure that the Eisteddfod goes from strength to strength locally and nationally.”
Simultaneous translation will be available at the meeting and there is a warm welcome for everyone.
