Remember to join us at the 2019 National Eisteddfod public meeting a week tonight!
The public meeting to welcome the National Eisteddfod to Conwy County will be held at 19:00 on Thursday 12 October at the Glasdir Business and Conference Centre, Llanrwst.
There’s a warm welcome for people from all parts of Conwy County to join the meeting and to volunteer as part of the project leading up to the National Eisteddfod held in the county from 2-10 August 2019.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis, said, “We want to attract people of all ages and backgrounds to join us in the work of preparing for the Eisteddfod in Conwy County in little over a year and a half. Over the past two years, we have managed to attract a wide cross-section of people to join the project, with teams of all ages working together and sharing ideas to ensure the success of the community project and the festival itself.
"The Glasdir Centre is convenient for the people from across the county, and we must stress that no decision has yet been taken about the location of the Maes and the Eisteddfod itself in 2019. We are still discussing options and the decision will not be taken for a while yet. It’s important for everyone to remember that this is a county wide project which will benefit Conwy County as a whole, and the festival at the end will be a huge celebration of the work done across the region to promote the Welsh language in the name of the Eisteddfod.
“There’s a warm welcome for everyone in the meeting a week tonight, so come and join us – and bring a few friends or colleagues with you – to help us get the project off to a flying start. We can’t wait to start working locally and to meet everyone at the public meeting.”
Nominations for the Executive Committee officials will open at the public meeting, with nominations accepted for the roles of Executive Chair, Chair of the Finance Committee and Executive Secretary via email or an online form until 25 October. Everything will be published on the Eisteddfod website, www.eisteddfod.wales, and the 2019 Eisteddfod pages will be developed over the next few months.
