Lose weight with Hywel Gwynfryn!

13 December 2015

Will you be looking to lose some weight after Christmas?  Would it be easier to persevere with a group of friends?

If so, why not join Her Hywel (Hywel’s Challenge) and lose weight with Hywel Gwynfryn to raise money towards the Anglesey National Eisteddfod Local Fund!

There’s a warm welcome for everyone to join the challenge – you don’t need to live on Anglesey to take part – and Hywel Gwynfryn, originally from Llangefni, will be leading the campaign as he kick-starts the weight loss campaign at the beginning of the year.

Hywel said, “Lots of us will be overdoing it at Christmas and then spend the whole of January regretting it.  But it can be very difficult to stick to a diet by yourself.  So why not join me to lose weight and raise money?

“The Eisteddfod is returning to Anglesey for the first time in almost twenty years in 2017, and we are all eager to be part of the fundraising campaign to ensure its success.  You don’t have to live locally to join in the fun – we’re looking for teams from across the whole of Wales – so if you’re worried about an extra pound or two, join us and transform those weight pounds into cash pounds for the Eisteddfod!”

The campaign begins early in the new year, and it’s very easy to take part.  Join a team with up to five members and get involved!  You’ll collect points as you lose weight and raise money, with every team receiving a point for every weight pound lost and another point for every cash pound raised.  The three teams with the highest number of points will win a prize at the end of the process.

Two ‘weigh-in’ days have been organised for the teams at the beginning of the challenge.  On 6 January, teams can go along to Enzone in Bodffordd, or you can go to Cartio Môn for the weigh-in on 7 January.  There’ll be a dietician on-hand to help you with a bespoke eating plan, and Eirian Williams from Cartio Môn and Mark Humphreys from Enzone, will also be available to offer some tips and advice for the next few weeks.

Other sessions are also available for anyone needing a little boost to help them along with the challenge.  A free weekly gym session is available at Cartio Môn every Sunday or Monday evening, a weekly gym session in Enzone and a swimming or gym session is also available free of charge at one of Anglesey’ leisure centres.

The challenge ends on Easter weekend at the end of March, with another ‘weigh-in’ session to see how much weight has been lost during the first three months of the year.  If you live outside Anglesey, send us your weight at the beginning and the end of the challenge to be in with a chance to win a prize!

Prizes include a half day pamper session at Tre-Ysgawen Hall Spa, half a day paddle-boarding on the Anglesey coast with Pellennig and a ride along the Menai Straits on the Rib-Ride adventure boat.
